چکیده

Equilibrium Simulation with Microeconometric Models: A New Procedure with an Application to Income Support Policies Many microeconometric models of discrete labour supply include alternative-specific constants meant to account for (possibly besides other factors) the density or accessibility of particular types of jobs (e.g. part-time jobs vs. full-time jobs). The most common use of these models is the simulation of tax-transfer reforms. The simulation is usually interpreted as a comparative statics exercise, i.e. the comparison of different equilibria induced by different policy regimes. The simulation procedure, however, typically keeps fixed the estimated alternative-specific constants. In this note we argue that this procedure is not consistent with the comparative statics interpretation. Since the constants reflect the number of jobs and since the number of people willing to work changes as a response to the change in taxtransfer regime, the new equilibrium induced by the reform implies that the constants should also change. A structural interpretation of the alternative-specific constants leads to the development of a simulation procedure consistent with the comparative statics interpretation. The procedure is illustrated with a simulation of alternative reforms of the income support policies in Italy. JEL Classification: C35, C53, H31, J22

Five Crossroads on the Way to Basic Income: An Italian Tour The current Italian income support policies are defective with respect to both efficiency and equity. A more effective design must face five crucial choices: universal vs. categorical policies; transfers vs. subsidies; unconditional vs. means-tested policies; coverage; flat vs. progressive tax rules. Using a microeconometric model and ...

Appropriate Labor income and Capital gain tax rates functions extraction based on Overlapping Generation Models: Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) approach

In this study, using the overlapping generation (OLG (model and the Stochastic Dynamic General Equilibrium (DSGE) approach, the optimal form of labor income tax rate and capital income tax functions is extracted for the economy of Iran using annual time series data during 1357 to 1397. The results of comparing the calibration and simulation of the designed model show that the optimal functions ...

The Impact of Monetary and Exchange Policies on the Country’s Trade balance Fluctuation with the Approach of Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) models

This paper uses the framework of new Keynesian school and the literature of the Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) model to build a general model that can be estimated for Iran economy. By simulating this model, the effects of the implementation of monetary and foreign exchange policies through policy instruments including bank interest rate, central bank international reserves and t...

Modeling of Growth and Welfare Effects of Tax Reform in Iran: A Static Computable General Equilibrium Analysis

F or several decades, the selection of a proper tax base has been among the most serious concerns for the economic policy makers. The computable general equilibrium models analysis provides a comprehensive framework for the investigation of the effects of the adopted policies on the economy of a country. In the present study, using a static computable general equilibrium, the effects of tax ref...

Intelligent Auto pilot Design for a Nonlinear Model of an Autonomous Helicopter by Adaptive Emotional Approach

There is a growing interest in the modeling and control of model helicopters using nonlinear dynamic models and nonlinear control. Application of a new intelligent control approach called Brain Emotional Learning Based Intelligent Controller (BELBIC) to design autopilot for an autonomous helicopter is addressed in this paper. This controller is applied to a nonlinear model of a helicopter. This...
